Good evening everyone! Today I am going to be reviewing 6 essential oils sent to me from Canvas Toronto and doTERRA: Lavender, Melaleuca, Peppermint, On Guard, Breathe and Digestzen.
Essential oils are used for a wide range of emotional and physical wellness applications. Essential oils can be used in one of three methods:
In this article I will include information from the doTERRA website, the packaging I recieved with the oils and my own thoughts and opinions. Let's get started!
"Lavender is often considered a must-have oil to keep on hand at all times due to its versatile uses, including calming and relaxing properties that promote peaceful sleep and ease feelings of tension."
Primary Benefits; soothes occasional skin irritations; helps ease feelings of tension; reduces anxious feelings and promotes peaceful sleep when taken internally.
IMO: I have always had trouble sleeping so close to apply a drop of this one to my pillow before bedtime as an aromatic oil. I found it helped a lot with taking my mind off things as I was trying to fall asleep and when I woke up in the morning I felt refreshed and well rested. This will definitely become part of my nightly routine. In the future I would love to use this oil to make some sort of lavender icing for chocolate cupcakes!
MELALEUCA (TEA TREE)
"Melalauca, or Tea Tree oil, is best known for its purifying qualities, which make it useful for cleansing the skin and home surfaces, purifying the air, or promoting healthy immune function."
Primary Benefits; renowned for its cleansing and rejuvenating effect on the skin; promotes healty immune function; protects against environmental and seasonal threats.
IMO: I consider this to be one of the most important oils for any vegan to have in their collection due to its antiseptic qualities. Tea tree oil can be used to treat acne, lice, insect bites and stings, burns, cuts and abrasions, sore throats, ear infections, even vaginal infections. Getting a bit personal here, I had a bit of an issue "downstairs" back in December that I was actually able to clear up in a matter of days by using this oil. Anyway, I'm gonna keep this blog rated G and move on!
"The high menthol content of the doTERRA Peppermint essential oil sets it apart from others when it comes to quality - making it one of the best-selling favourites among doTERRA essential oils."
Primary Benefits; promotes healthy respiratory function and clear breathing; promotes digestive health; repels bugs naturally.
IMO: Unfortunately I only actually got to use this oil a few times as it cracked open in one of my boxes during my move to Burlington, but I had been using this as an aromatic oil in the morning by putting a few drops on the floor of my shower to wake me up.
IMO: This blend has a very pleasant, spicy, orangey scent. I have incorporated this oil into my daily routine by mixing a drop with water and using in place of mouthwash in the morning and before bed.
"Breathe can be used for a clearing, refreshing aroma."
Primary Benefits; apply topically to the chest and breathe deeply to enjoy a cooling, invigorating vapor; promotes a restful night's sleep; helps minimize the effects of seasonal threats.
IMO: This oil has a very minty scent and is the perfect natural remedy to seasonal allergies when applied topically.
"The perfect companion for road trips and to have on hand when feelings of stomach upset occur."
Primary Benefits; calming aroma may ease the effects of motion sickness; provides a soothing abdominal massage.
IMO: This oil also has a very minty, medicinal scent. I have suffered from car sickness since I was pretty young so finding a natural remedy was a huge score for me! This oil is not a cure for motion sickness but it sure does help!
This has to be one of the longest reviews I have ever done, if you stuck around until now then thank you so much for reading and thank you so much to Suz Ruby for suppling me with these beautiful oils! They have become a staple in my home and I am so excited to be sharing my thoughts on them with my readers! Xx
Hi everyone! Today (tonight? this morning?) I am going to be reviewing Lush's "Sleepy" Hand and Body Lotion - "A scrumptious lotion with a sweet lavender scent for even sweeter dreams." This lotion is a limited-edition product from the Christmas line, but keep in mind Lush often brings back popular items in following years and I have a feeling this will be one of them.
This product was an instant favourite of mine. What originally attracted me to it was its mesmerizing pale purple hue, but I stayed for its scent. The lotion smells strongly of lavender in the pot, but once applied it transforms into this soft, sweet, dreamy aroma with lavender undertones that carry you off into a dreamland. It is absorbed effortlessly and is the perfect fix for dry, winter skin. I definitely recommend it for nighttime use as it's a bit to heavy for a hand cream, but I have yet to find anything more comforting than smoothing this all over after getting out of the shower, then putting on clean pyjamas and hopping into bed. Overall I give "Sleepy" 4.5/5 stars. I hope you enjoyed this late-night product review and I wish you the sweetest of dreams. Goodnight. ☁️✨
Hey guys! Today I wanted to share my excitement about Lush's fall line and let you know that all the products in this line are vegan! Click the images below to shop and have a great day!
This deodorant is free from aluminum, synthetic parabens, petrochemicals, SLS, synthetic colours and animal derived ingredients. It is antibacterial, safe to use after shaving/waxing and suitable for everyday use. I was rather weary of this product at first as my skin has always been very sensitive and tea tree tends to be a hit or miss with it. To my surprise this roll on deodorant couldn't have been more perfect. It is soothing, keeps me fresh and has actually helped get rid of my razor-burn. My only complaint with it is that it has a longer dry-time than I would want. Overall this product has been a definite hit! I give it 4/5 stars and will definitely be repurchasing.
